Information about the Texel

Description/About the Texel: a Texel's hair grows the same amount as the other longhaired breeds, about an inch a month. The Texel's coat is composed of ringlets, which are supposed to be tight and not brushed-out. There is no Texel Satin.

Grooming: Texels are easier to groom than other longhaired breeds, but still require special grooming. Their coat is not wrapped, but they should be kept on pelleted bedding. They should be checked every day for forming mats/stuck bedding in the coat. To groom a Texel, lightly mist water on the coat. Some breeders will 'scrunch' the coat with their hands after misting.

Availability: At the moment (here in CA) Texels are one of the most - if not the most - popular of longhaired breeds. Most Texels are Broken Colors or TSW.
