Solid cavies are cavies that have a coat pattern or hair color
pattern that is consistent and gives the cavy a uniform, 'solid' look. Solid
varieties are not the same as Self varieties.

Brindle
The brindle cavy has fine
intermixing of red and black hairs. The mixture should be
even, and there should be no obvious patches. Red and black
are the only colors allowed. The cavy can be basically red
shot with black, or vice versa.
Brindle is a very popular
color for Abyssinians. |

Roan*
The Roan cavy's coat is made up of the
intermixing of white and one or two other recognized self,
agouti or solid colors. Head markings may vary, but the
cavy's entire coat should be as well-roaned as possible.
Lack of roaning will disqualify a cavy. Roan x Roan
breedings have a high percentage chance of creating 'lethal'
babies, babies that are completely white and have missing or
no teeth, are blind, and usually die shortly after birth.
Roans are often bred to self, agouti, or solid cavies to
avoid this problem.
Roan is another popular color for Abyssinians. |

Golden Solid
The golden solid's coat is
made up of red-tipped black hairs. It is similar to the
agouti, but has no belly band. Oftentimes the best solids
are born looking like they have no tipped hairs; the color
comes in later. A common fault is lack of ticking on the
feet.

Silver Solid
The silver solid's coat is
made up of white-tipped black hairs. It is similar to the
agouti, but has no belly band. Oftentimes the best solids
are born looking like they have no tipped hairs; the color
comes in later. A common fault is lack of ticking on the
feet.
