Coronets

Marked cavies are cavies that have ordered placement of patches/markings. Broken color cavies are usually the most popular of all varieties in any breed, and are a challenge to raise for show (I'm not biased or anything, ha ha :).

* = varieties not recognized in the White Crested breed

** = not an acceptable variety in the White Crested breed if white is present

Dalmation*

The Dalmation cavy is a white cavy with spots of any recognized self color (solid and agouti colors are not accepted). There should be distinct spots against a white background, and minimal roaning. The more spots, the better. Lack of belly markings is a common fault. Any head marking is acceptable.

Dalmations are often bred to self cavies, as breeding Dalmation x Dalmation can have the same effects as breeding Roan x Roan.

Dutch*

Dutch cavies are marked similar to dutch rabbits. It is very hard to get showable dutch cavies. They are always white and one other self, agouti, or solid color (excluding roan and brindle); they are only two colors. There must not be any isolated spots or patches of white in the colored areas, and vice versa. Dutch cavies must display a wedge-shaped blaze, foot stops, a saddle, undercut, and cheek circles. Foot stops are where the color runs partway down the foot, ideally leaving about half the foot white.

Broken Color**

These cavies have patches of any two or more recognized self, agouti, or solid colors (excluding brindle and roan). There should be equal amounts of each color, and the patching should be clear-cut and well distributed. There must be at least a 50-cent size patch of at least two of the colors present on the cavy in order for it to be showable. The cavy can be any combination of colors except Red/Black/White (which is a TSW) and Red/Black (which is TS). Markings similar to a dutch cavy's is a fault. The possibilities are endless for the combinations of colors and patching, they are the most diverse group. A cavy with pink eyes (with orange, beige, lilac, white, or cream coat colors) is called a 'dilute' broken, and a cavy with dark eyes (with black, red, white, cream, or chocolate coat colors) is an 'intense' broken. The dilute brokens are often referred to as 'Rainbows'. Brokens are a hard variety to win with, as you not only have to worry about type and color, but patching and distribution as well.

Himalayan*

Himalayans are to have as white a coat as possible, with black feet, ears, and nose markings. Any lack of these markings or white in these areas is a disqualification. The markings are to be as black as possible, though sometimes the heat will lighten their markings. Young himilayans' markings are also usually lighter than an adult's.

TSW (Tortoise Shell and White)*

Another popular variety, the TSW cavy is a cavy that has patches of red, black, and white. These cavies somewhat resemble calico cats. They are also a harder variety to win with, as good patching and distribution is essential. The ideal TSW cavy is marked like a checkerboard. Dividing lines down the belly and back are desired, though the belly is usually patched better than the top of the cavy. The TSW should have as equal amounts of each color as possible, and can be dq'd for lack of patch color.

TS

The TS cavy is only red and black. A checkerboard pattern is desired. This variety is rare, and is often brindled.
