Coronets

Here you will find examples of general faults and disqualifications from competition.

Disqualifications

If your cavy exhibits one of these it is not showable

Pea Eye

Pea eye does not hurt your cavy, it is just a fat pocket. The cavy above exhibits slight pea eye, you can see the drooping of the lower lid. Pea eye is almost always genetic and is a disqualification from competition.

Coat Faults

Ridges of hair or 'angel wings' (cowlicks) are disqualifications in all smooth-coated breeds, and are usually genetic.

Foreign-color Hair on Self Cavies

Any patches, snips, or stray hairs are disqualifications on self-colored cavies.

Minimal Patching on Broken Marked Cavies

Broken Marked and TSW cavies must have at least one patch of each color the size of a fifty-cent piece. Less than this much is a disqualification.

Other Disqualifications

- missing toes

- severe infestations of parasites

- colds, illness, etc.

- heavily pregnant cavies
