About the Coronet

Description/about the Coronet: A Coronet has long, continuously growing hair that sweeps back like a Silkies'. The difference between a Silkie and a Coronet is that the Coronet has a single 'coronet' on the forehead. There is no recognized Satin variation of the breed. The coronet should have a single, tight center, like a White Crested. Coronets are the most popular in Broken and TSW varieties. Overall, Coronets are a fairly rare breed, not often seen at shows.

Grooming: Like any other straight longhaired cavy, the Coronet should be kept in wraps, making it a harder breed to groom. If it's a pet you can always clip its coat. Special care should be taken to keep the coronet from getting smashed or flattened during handling. Click here for info on grooming a longhaired cavy.

Availability: Coronets are one of the less popular longhaired breeds, and are harder to find than Silkies or Peruvians.
